It's like finding a $20 bill in your pocket, except in this version, the $20 bill kicks your ass.

So the other day I stumbled upon something totally awesome: A Crossfit gym local to me. I knew the place, or at least the website, had to be relatively new, since it turned up on a google search ("crossfit blacksburg") that I had done several times before. Turns out that they had just opened up their operation in March.

I went to check it out today, for their one-on-one intro session. Weighed in, got some skin fold measurements, filled out some paperwork, talked about interests/goals, and got form-critiqued on some basic movements (Squat, DL, push-jerk, etc). Then finally got around to the fun part: a benchmark workout, mini-Cindy (5-10-15 pullup, push up, air squat for max rounds in 10 minutes). Managed to knock out 7 rounds, despite running on 3 hours sleep and eating nothing but energy drinks for the last 18 hours (I was attempting to cram for a final last night). Interestingly enough, it wasn't the cardio that killed me today. I felt like I had the wind to go harder (In fact, I craved to go harder at times), but my muscles gave out early on the squats and push-ups. I'd be willing to bet I had a major glycogen deficiency... 70 push ups should not have been that hard for me, especially broken into sets of 10. Then again, 50 burpees for time (~7:30, target one foot above reach) yesterday probably didn't help matters. Oh, and that was after a few sets of heavy back squats.

Anyway, looking forward to a rest day tomorrow. I don't hurt too bad, but I certainly feel smoked.
